You have to remove the slide release as it's bar runs through the trigger. Just use a small finishing nail to push the pin up from the bottom. The pin is solid with a cupped end at the bottom and the cup needs to compress and a punch doesn't allow it but a pointy nail will. Thanks for keeping GizMo's method alive!

Edit: To answer your question, no. I would not bet my life on a Canik or any sort of clone. Barring top shelf carry guns like the Staccatto and Wilson Combat, I would only trust my life to a handgun under the brand names; Glock, Sig, CZ, M&P, HK, Walther, Beretta and maybe FN.

The height is the major difference. I own the SF and SFX (a longer slide version of the SFT) and can say the shorter frame makes a huge difference (imo) if you're looking to carry. The SF also has a 15 round magazine, whereas all the other current METEs are 18 round (SF can still use 18 round magazines). Honest opinions on canik I went to a demo day today and spent some time at the Canik booth.
